Blockchain & Smart Contract Layer

Web3 infrastructure enabling secure, scalable, and low-cost player ownership in Voidbound.

The Web3 functionality of Voidbound: Beyond Survival is powered by a state-of-the-art blockchain infrastructure built on Polygon (MATIC), an Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution. This platform was selected after thorough evaluation of multiple blockchain technologies and was chosen for its balance of security, scalability, and developer maturity. Polygon enables Voidbound to deliver high-speed, low-cost blockchain functionality seamlessly integrated into a mainstream gaming experience.

Why Polygon

By building on Polygon, Voidbound gains access to an ecosystem purpose-built for scalability and user accessibility. This infrastructure allows the game to maintain the speed and affordability required for mass adoption while inheriting the trust and resilience of Ethereum.

Key Advantages:

  • Ultra-Low Transaction Costs Gas fees on Ethereum Layer 1 are often too high for frequent microtransactions, which are central to gaming economies. Polygon’s Layer 2 environment reduces transaction costs to a fraction of a cent (typically between $0.01 and $0.05), making it practical and affordable to trade even low-value items.

  • High Transaction Throughput A successful MMORPG can generate thousands of transactions per second. Polygon supports high throughput with finality achieved within 2–3 seconds, ensuring that gameplay is never hindered by blockchain delays.

  • Ethereum-Level Security Polygon transactions are periodically settled on the Ethereum mainnet, inheriting its proven security and decentralization. This provides players with the confidence that their digital assets are safeguarded by the world’s most established blockchain network.

  • Robust Gaming Ecosystem Polygon has become the leading Layer 2 network for gaming, partnering with major industry players such as Ubisoft and Atari. This established ecosystem offers a reliable foundation, extensive developer tools, and strong interoperability with other Web3 projects.

Smart Contract Architecture

The smart contract suite serves as the backbone of Voidbound’s NFT and token economy. Each contract is developed in adherence to industry best practices, following well-audited standards to ensure transparency, efficiency, and player protection.

A full third-party security audit will be completed before deployment to mainnet to verify the robustness and safety of all contract code.

Core Smart Contracts Include:

  • NFT Contract A standard ERC-1155 contract governing the creation, transfer, and ownership of all in-game NFTs. This multi-token standard supports both fungible and non-fungible assets efficiently.

  • Marketplace Contract A decentralized exchange contract enabling peer-to-peer NFT trading directly between players. Transactions are automated through secure smart contracts without centralized intermediaries.

  • VBT Token Contract A standard ERC-20 implementation managing the Voidbound Token (VBT), the utility currency that powers transactions and in-game economic functions.

  • Governance Contract A specialized contract that will grant VBT holders the ability to participate in governance — voting on major game development initiatives, economic adjustments, and future feature proposals.

Security and Reliability

All blockchain interactions are executed through verified smart contracts, ensuring tamper-resistant operations. The development team employs rigorous testing, version control, and continuous auditing throughout the lifecycle of each contract.

By combining Polygon’s performance with Ethereum’s security, Voidbound achieves a scalable, reliable, and player-centric blockchain infrastructure capable of supporting millions of users while maintaining trust and transparency.
